A Space for Reflection and Connection

As MPG marks 200 years, Thornton will recognize this milestone as a place for reflection, expression and shared remembrance. Anniversary installations invite visitors to pause and engage with stories of love, loss and connection.

At the heart of Thornton’s experience is Space for Grief’s Memory Garden, where visitors and staff are invited to write messages to someone they’ve lost. Displayed on bird‑shaped cards, these contributions form a living landscape of remembrance that brings diverse voices together in shared expression.

Beginning in mid‑July, interpretive signage offers storytelling and prompts for contemplation. Indoor plinths with multi‑sided signage, including four‑sided panels or multi‑panel displays, provide additional historical and narrative context.

Together, these installations form Thornton’s contribution to MPG’s network wide 200th anniversary, highlighting the power of shared expression, remembrance and connection across generations.
