An Historic Chapter in Our 200-Year Story
As MPG marks 200 years, Toronto Necropolis plays a key role in sharing the MPG’s heritage through carefully placed installations that invite pause and reflection.
A central feature is Space for Grief’s Monoliths, a sculptural projection installation exploring memory as layered, shifting and imperfect. The stacked forms suggest how moments are held, changed or fade over time, bringing contemporary interpretation into dialogue with history.
Beginning in mid‑July, interpretive signage throughout the site highlights key moments from MPG’s history. Later in the summer, indoor plinths with multi‑sided signage, featuring four‑sided panels or multi‑panel displays, provide additional historical and interpretive context.
Together, these installations form Toronto Necropolis’s contribution to MPG’s network‑wide 200th anniversary, demonstrating how history and contemporary interpretation can co-exist, creating space for reflection and understanding.
Discover the people, places and moments that shaped MPG and see how our legacy continues to inspire the future.
