Barbara Frum was an innovative journalist whose work transformed Canadian broadcasting. Joining CBC Radio in the late 1960s, Frum quickly became a national voice as host of its flagship program As It Happens. In 1982, she broke new ground as anchor of CBC Television’s The Journal, where her incisive interviews and fearless reporting set new standards for Canadian journalism.
Frum was among the first women to achieve national prominence in Canadian media, inspiring generations of female journalists. Her legacy is honoured through the Barbara Frum Public Library in Toronto, a testament to her impressive influence.
