Duffin Meadows Cemetery
Section 15 Lot 1
Ron Barron’s connection to Duffin Meadows Cemetery is rooted in the land itself. For many years, he worked on this property, contributing to its care and development during a period of significant growth. The original farmhouse in which he once lived and worked now serves as the cemetery office, preserving a tangible link to his presence on the site. Today, Ron is laid to rest on the very grounds he helped steward, creating a meaningful continuity between his life’s work and his final place of rest.
Long before Duffin Meadows became a place of remembrance, the land was home to generations of Ontario farm families. Dating back to the late 1800s, these rolling fields formed part of a network of working farms where crops thrived, livestock grazed and families built their lives from the soil. The rhythms of rural life echoed across the property for more than a century, creating a legacy of perseverance, hard work and community values.
When Duffin Meadows Cemetery was established in 1993, great care was taken to preserve this agricultural heritage. Even in its early years, cows still wandered the surrounding pastures, a living reminder of the land’s origins. The restoration of the original farmhouse further strengthened the connection between past and present, ensuring that the history of those who lived and worked here would remain visible and respected.
